Sparta joined us in March 2023. Having seen him at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair, where he was third in a large colt foal class, I thought he was exactly what I was looking for as the next stallion for my current mares and my Safari daughters.

Sparta is by Springbourne Capricorn, twice winner of the Royal Welsh show and Male Champion in 2022. Capricorn is a Gold, Silver and Bronze WPCS medal winner, and notably sire of two consecutive Royal Welsh Champions, De Weyerds Hailey in 2022 and Idyllic Spectre in 2023, who had been Youngstock Champion the year prior.

Sparta is very closely related to Spectre, both being by Capricorn, and out of two full sisters, Sonnet and Soprano.  

 

Sparta's dam, Sonnet, is out of Springlane Evensong, making her a maternal sibling to Royal Welsh Champion Pebbles, Royal Welsh Male Champion and triple Royal Welsh winner Prophet & full sister to Royal Welsh winner Soprano.

Sonnet herself has been a consistent winner, including bronze and silver medals, Brightwells Final Sec A Champion at the Welsh National Show and second at the Royal Welsh.

She is dam of the 2023 Royal Welsh junior stallion class winner Dragoon, who also won his class at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair as a foal.
